Jon and Vicky
Jon studied Global Studies and Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University. He briefly worked in marketing before entering full time outreach to refugees in Pittsburgh. He worked with a local team in the city doing a variety of community development work, including helping the community to start an urban farm and doing grant writing to help the community non-profit hire a caseworker. Vicky is a nurse, specializing in community nursing and palliative care. She served women and youth during her time at home.
We met at language school studying French, both preparing to head other places. But our Father had other plans! We went back to Vicky’s home country, where we were married and Jon completed his Master’s in Management and Entrepreneurship. After a trip in 2021, we felt called to work in North Africa. We will be spending our first year getting settled and learning the local language.
Praise:
1. Establishing some daily routines
2. Beginning to feel more comfortable in daily life – shopping etc...
3. New team member arrived this week.
Petition:
1. Bonding as a team
2. Settling into our home and finding community here.
3. Changing language schools
4. Vicky is in need of medication, but there is a shortage in the country. She will be taking a lower dose until the medication becomes available again; ask that this does not have any adverse effects.
