| Welcome to City Reformed |
|
We are a community of believers seeking to follow Jesus in Pittsburgh. We do this through lives of worship, growth and humble service, to those inside and outside of our community. As a community of believers we know that we are sinners, yet we are committed to understanding how we can more and more reflect Jesus. We don't assume that everyone among us knows everything about Christianity. In fact, we seek to welcome anyone willing to explore Jesus with us. We want to be a warm community for all kinds of people, including older singles, new people in town, single parents, and people who have never attended church before.
Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about the church to give you a picture of what City Reformed... What kind of people make up City Reformed? Our community is made up of young adults, older singles, married couples without kids, grandparents, and families of all sizes, with children of all ages. Many of our families have been impacted by the pain of divorce, death and illness. Our church is consciously serving the people groups that surround the universities and colleges of Pittsburgh. This includes students, laborers, professionals, scholars, and full time mothers. In short, anyone who is intertwined with the City of Pittsburgh is likely to show up at our church. However, because the university community has a larger number of students than other parts of the country, the average age of our members is probably lower than many other American churches. You do not need to have an advanced degree in Christianity to attend City Reformed. In fact, we make it a point to explain everything that we do in a way that makes it understandable to people who have never been to church. We frequently have people join us for worship that come from different religious traditions or from no religious tradition at all. We do not expect everyone to agree with what we believe and we welcome honest dialogue. What do you believe?City Reformed is a Christian, Protestant, Reformed, Evangelical Mission-minded church. For a longer list of what we beleive, check out other links in our "who we are section" What will the worship service be like? Our worship is relaxed but focused. Our goal is not to entertain, instead we hope that our service is challenging and thought-provoking.We follow a basic pattern of meeting together that is traced back to the early Church. We teach from the Bible. We pray, meditate, sing and reflect. What should I wear?At City Reformed, you're welcome to wear whatever you'd like. There is no set dress code, although the attire is more on the casual side. We ask that people dress in a way that is not distracting. How do I get to a service? For directions click here . What about my kids? Do you have a children's ministry?Absolutely. We are committed to families that worship God together. We have two carefully supervised nurseries that run during the service. One is for infants and the other is for ages 1-5. In addition we have a children's church for ages 5-8 during the sermon that focuses on the same material as the sermon, plus Bible memory. Right now, we don't have a Sunday school, but we offer educational classes for children at our family group which meets on Wednesday nights. Parents are welcome to keep their children in the worship service. We believe that all people are welcome to worship with us and we don’t mind a little fussing. A full description of our nursery policy is also available. Can I invite my friends? Please do. We seek to be a welcoming environment for people who are curious about Christianity or who are seeking to belong to a community of believers. How can I get involved? There are so many ways to get connected at City Reformed. The best way for you to get involved is to join one of our Community Groups.
