As a community of Christians, we gather both as a whole church, and as smaller groups, at different times, and in different ways. Sometimes our gatherings are larger, more formal, and organized, while others are smaller and more relaxed. Coming together as a community is something which we hold in high regard. The Author of Hebrews puts it this way in 10:24-25: "let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together." (ESV)
Sunday Worship Each Sunday we come together as a whole community. These Sunday gatherings start at 11 AM and are held in the heart of Oakland at the Frick International Studies Academy. This time includes spiritual teaching, worship, prayer, and the observation of the sacraments. Additionally, the time following this service is a great opportunity for getting to know people and fellowshipping with them. Dress for the Sunday worship service is casual - come as you are. Community Groups Our community groups are held throughout Pittsburgh. Each group is defined by where it meets, though some groups have more young people and singles, while others are more geared towards families and offer childcare. It is in our small groups that deep, life-changing community is fostered. A list of groups can be found here . Discipleship Groups Our Discipleship groups are places where people make a stronger commitment to their group by staying with one group for the entire duration of a course of study. These groups are closed after they have begun the study to foster intimacy within the group. The groups will last for the duration of the study and are usually comprised of 5-6 people. New groups form on a regular basis. Prayer and Planning Every few months we have Prayer and Planning meetings, which give the church an opportunity to come together and pray for the church and cast vision for what we should do next. Special Events On Occasion we also have special events or services, which include dinners, special services, and other fun gatherings. Additionally, members of our church help to bring conferences on a variety subjects to Pittsburgh, such as "Is Pacifism More Christian?", and "The Outrageous Idea of Christian Scholarship."
